Qualifications

  • High School Diploma plus at least two years of working as a certified peer recovery specialist in a professional environment.
  • Certified in Maryland as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) and as a Registered Peer Supervisor (RPS).

Examples of Duties

  • To build and maintain a trusting professional relationship with the recovery specialist under their supervision that helps the peer recovery specialist meet job performance goals.
  • To model ethical boundaries between peer and supervisor to ensure ethical boundaries between peer support staff and program participants.
  • To maintain appropriate confidentiality of information disclosed during supervision that meets legal and professional requirements in order to assure appropriate and successful supervisor-to-supervisee relationships.
  • To evaluate and provide feedback to ensure that Peer Recovery Specialists are helping people served meet their goals, interacting in a peer-to-peer fashion, and working within the Peer Recovery Specialist scope of practice.
  • To understand and support core values of peer support by building and maintaining effective working relationships with peer recovery specialists who acknowledge their role and experience, while maintaining the expectations of the workplace.
  • To establish professional relationships based on mutual respect and recovery principles and ideals that promote environments in which peer recovery specialists’ efforts to self-monitor and take care of their own wellness are supported and encouraged, understanding that the recovery and growth process is not linear.
  • To ensure that all Baltimore County Health Department policies and procedures are followed and that all peer support staff represent the mission and values of the Baltimore County Health Department Bureau of Behavioral Health.
  • To work with the program supervisor to effectively monitor the staff documentation, using the various programs and systems in place to collect data and schedule outreach, providing technical support when necessary.
  • To work with the program manager and the leadership with various administrative assignments and related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

  • May be required to carry a caseload of participants, depending on the staffing and the needs of the program.
  • Plan, implement and oversee outreach events, both individual street outreach, community events and provider and stakeholder outreach.
  • Assists the program manager and the leadership with various administrative assignments and related duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

  • Essentially sedentary with occasional walking, lifting, or other restricted physical activities.

  • Health Insurance In order to qualify for health insurance benefits (medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance), part-time employees must be scheduled for four (4) full work days plus two (2) hours each week.
