Nutritionist I (Specialist Officer II) - Non-Merit

About the role

A Non-Merit vacancy exists in Clinical Services/Women, Infants & Children (WIC), Department of Health and Human Services. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below. Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants. Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, implements, and conducts programs providing professional nutrition services.
• Plans, implements, conducts, and evaluates programs providing various nutrition services such as nutrition assessment, counseling, and education.
• Supervises subordinate staff.
• Develops and implements the nutrition education component of public health programs.
• Counsels pregnant and postpartum women.
• Conducts studies of local nutritional needs and resources.
• Provides advice, consultation, and guidance to human service providers, community organizations, and individuals regarding nutrition.
• Researches, prepares, and presents reports on nutrition and related health topics.
• Responds to requests and inquiries from the public and staff.
• Assists in developing grant proposals and justifications.
• Prepares and administers program budgets.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nutrition, nutrition education, dietetics, or a related field plus at least three years' professional experience in human nutrition or dietetics.
• Current registration as a Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and licensure as a Nutritionist by the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice are required at the time of appointment.
• Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, Class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

• Licenses and Certificates: Current registration as a Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and licensure as a Nutritionist by the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice are required at the time of appointment.
• Supervisory experience with professional and support staff.
• Bilingual skills.
