Examples Of Duties
- Provide peer support to individuals with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health concerns
- Meet with program participants to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community
- Create participant-driven wellness plans designed to address barriers to wellness
- Outreach to the community and distribute literature, brochures, and other related materials
- Document all participant encounters and outreach efforts
- Contribute to team meetings, providing constructive feedback
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or ability to obtain CPRS within one year of hire
- Familiarity with harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and person-centered approaches
- Experience working in a healthcare, behavioral health, or harm reduction setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of local recovery resources and services
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a non-judgmental and supportive manner
Licenses and Certificates
- Proof of Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist and Registered Peer Supervisor for those already certified, or the ability to acquire CPRS within one year of hire is required at the time of application.
- Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver license is required at the time of application.
Conditions of Employment
- Physical and Environmental Conditions: Essentially sedentary with occasional walking, lifting, or other restricted physical activities.
- Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation: Applicants must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation.
