About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the expansion of our established Midwifery Sonographer team across Leeds, West Yorkshire. The post holder is an expert clinical practitioner of midwifery, trained in ultrasonography, who provides midwifery and ultrasound care for both low-risk and high-risk women. The post-holder will work in collaboration with the antenatal care team to provide ultrasound and midwifery care, carrying continuing responsibility for assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs of care, and setting standards of care.

The post-holder is expected to perform the full range of obstetric ultrasound procedures involved in the third trimester of pregnancy. This is a highly specialized clinical service, with the postholder expected to independently report and interpret ultrasound images and document findings accordingly. The role supports our existing team of Midwife Sonographers to deliver antenatal screening to nearly 10,000 women at both our St James University and Leeds General Infirmary sites over 7 days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide midwifery and ultrasound care for low-risk and high-risk women.
  • Assess care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care, and set standards of care.
  • Perform the full range of obstetric ultrasound procedures in the third trimester of pregnancy.
  • Independently report and interpret ultrasound images and document findings.
  • Act as a resource for ultrasound and midwifery issues.
  • Participate in audits and work collaboratively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Support the delivery of antenatal screening across two hospital sites over 7 days.

Requirements

  • Experience in providing detailed midwifery care and ultrasound knowledge.
  • Ability to perform a range of obstetric ultrasound scans and independently report on ultrasound images.
  • Passion for delivering excellent, patient-centered care.
  • Commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring Skilled Worker visa sponsorship (see eligibility criteria under UK Government regulations).
