General Summary
Principal Job Functions

- Performs ultrasound procedures to include obstetrical, gynecological, interventional, and vascular studies related to Obstetrics.
- Uses sterile techniques, performs sterilization of instruments and maintains documentation of instrument sterilization.
- Optimally demonstrates patient/fetal anatomy through proper positioning and transducer selection.
- Competently operates all ultrasound equipment and support systems.
- Utilizes patient files to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies; maintains patient confidentiality.
- Properly cares for and images patients of all ages.
- Captures and coordinates exams within the office and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with coworkers, patients, and families to assure quality patient care.
- Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies Office Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Performs the day-to-day functioning of the office, including answering phones, patient scheduling, charge entry and computer entry.
- Maintains a file of interesting cases for conference/teaching purposes.
- Responsible for mentoring of students.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
- Graduation of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program required.
- Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification with certification in abdomen and OB/GYN required within three (3) months of hire date.
- Must be able to follow American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines to ensure continued office certification.
- Two (2) years of clinical abdomen and OB/GYN ultrasound experience desired.
Other Credentials / Certifications
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
