SPECIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR - PARKS AND RECREATION INTERNATIONAL PARK DIVISION
About the role
Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse range of recreational programs and special events for the Clayton County Parks and Recreation department. This role involves managing staff, volunteers, and resources to ensure high-quality service and meaningful engagement for all park constituents.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary contact for constituent inquiries related to specific services and facilities, providing timely responses and maintaining electronic records of all interactions for reporting purposes.
- Establishes rapport with community members to foster positive relations.
- Affords assistance in the planning and oversight of recreational programs, activities, and events suitable for all age groups, interest levels, and community demographics.
- Collaborates with the Director’s office on event approval and execution.
- Recruits, trains, and manages part-time staff, volunteers, and instructors.
- Provides guidance, direction, and performance evaluations.
- Plans and implements volunteer recognition programs to encourage ongoing engagement and appreciation.
- Inspects facilities and equipment for safety compliance and readiness before events.
- Ensures adherence to all health and safety standards, particularly in aquatic or outdoor environments.
- Addresses constituent complaints and manages incidents to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
- Assists in budget preparation for specific programs and events.
- Manages the collection and accounting of fees and charges related to facility rentals and programs.
- Prepares special reports, program analyses, and promotional materials.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration preferred; supplemented by one (1) year of previous experience and/or training that includes recreational and aquatic programming; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Salary and Benefits
Salary: $45,823.76 per year
