Special Education RISE BHP Ed Tech II/III - McMahon Elementary School

About the role

Aids in delivering educational and behavioral support services as outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction, addressing academic and social needs throughout the day.
• Implement and follow IEPs and PBSPs, and utilize de-escalation strategies.
• Prepare classroom and individual student areas, and prepare materials for specialized instruction.
• Collect and enter relevant data.
• Operate standard school equipment and assist in assembling/hanging materials.
• Follow the day-to-day schedule of students, maintaining constant attention to ensure safety and structure.

Qualifications

• Three years of postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related field.
• Required for Education Technician III certification and School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
• Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships and communicate clearly with students, staff, and the school community.
• Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the general education setting.
