About the role
Aids in delivering educational and behavioral support services as outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Able to facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction while addressing the diverse needs of complex learners.
- Incorporates academic and social opportunities throughout the day, including lunch, recess, hallway transitions, and breaks with peers and transportation.
- Facilitates implementation and adherence to IEPs and PBSPs.
- Utilizes de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
- Assists with classroom setup, individual student areas, and material preparation for specialized instruction.
- Collects and enters relevant data.
- Assembles and hangs materials on bulletin boards and keeps displays current.
- Operates standard school equipment such as computers, laminators, copiers, audiovisual equipment, etc.
- Fulfills the day-to-day schedule of students, maintaining constant supervision.
Qualifications
- Three years of postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related field.
- Required for Education Technician III certification under Maine Department of Education guidelines.
- Required for School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
- Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the general education setting.
