About the role
Aids the Special Education Teacher in delivering educational services outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction tailored to complex learners.
- Implement and adhere to IEPs and PBSPs.
- Implement de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
- Prepare classroom and individual student areas, and prepare materials for specialized instruction.
- Collect and enter relevant data.
- Operate standard school equipment such as computers, laminators, copiers, audiovisual equipment, etc.
- Follow the day-to-day schedule of students.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and the school community.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the General Education setting.
Qualifications
- Three years postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related area.
- Required for Education Technician III certification and School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
- Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the General Education setting.
