Brief Job Duties

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
  • Participate in required workshops by request of the Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
  • Perform academic support for small groups or one-on-one.
  • Auxiliary in the preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management functions.
  • Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

Certification/License

  • Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education (022).
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus 3 years of post-secondary education (60 credits).

Experience

  • Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
