About the role

Aids in delivering educational services outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Able to facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction while addressing the needs of complex learners.
  • Incorporates academic and social opportunities throughout the day, including lunch, recess, hallway transitions, and breaks with peers and transportation.
  • Facilitates implementation and adherence to IEPs and PBSPs.
  • Responsible for implementing de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
  • Assists with classroom setup, individual student areas, and material preparation for specialized instruction.
  • Collects and enters relevant data.
  • Operates standard school equipment such as computers, laminators, copiers, audiovisual equipment, etc.
  • Fulfills the day-to-day schedule of students, maintaining constant attention to ensure safety and structure.

Qualifications

  • Three years postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related area.
  • Required for Education Technician III certification and School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
  • Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the general education setting.
