About the role
Aids in delivering educational services outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction to meet the needs of complex learners.
- Implement and follow IEPs and PBSPs.
- Implement de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
- Assist with classroom setup and prepare materials for specialized instruction.
- Collect and enter relevant data.
- Operate standard school equipment and follow the day-to-day schedule of students.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and the school community.
- Follow complex educational and behavioral treatment plans.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the General Education setting.
Qualifications
- Three years postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related area.
- Essential for Education Technician III certification required by Maine DOE.
- School Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
- Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
