Spanish Language Interpreter I (PRN)

About the role

This per-diem (PRN) position at Harbor Hospital supports Spanish-speaking women during gynecology visits and mammograms by providing English-Spanish interpretation. The role also involves assisting with patient registration, escorting patients between departments, and providing basic customer service. Availability is required on Mondays and Thursdays during the day shift. This position does not offer benefits or PTO.

Responsibilities

• Interpret English and Spanish for Spanish-speaking patients during gynecology visits and mammograms.
• Assist patients with registration, paperwork, and demographic information.
• Escort patients between departments and provide directions or simple instructions.
• Collect and place program consent forms in patient charts.
• Communicate with patients and staff regarding appointment tardiness or no-shows.
• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and community outreach efforts.
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Qualified Bilingual Staff Level 1 certification (or similar) required within one year of hire.
• Fluency in speaking and reading English and Spanish required.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Pay

This position has a hiring range of USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 per hour.
