Spanish Interpreter - PRN
Summary
The Spanish Interpreter will provide patients, families, visitors, and staff access to employees who accurately interpret via face-to-face encounters during designated hours. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish with the ability to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/patients' families and Cook Children's health care providers. Will act as a language liaison between the patient, family, and staff in support of the medical plan of care. Facilitates acquisition of Interpreter services for non-Spanish languages (via OPI/over the phone, VRI/video remote interpreter and/or contract services).

About the Role
Will require full time in-person training for 4-6 weeks at Cook Children's Fort Worth Medical Center.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Previous interpretation/translation experience (preferred).
- Ability to precisely and accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language.
- Strong interpersonal, flexibility, and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Able to interact and communicate with people in-person and over the telephone, often in stressful situations.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Health Care Providers is required within 30 days of employment and must be maintained.
Skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Proficient in interpreting health care information.
