About the role

This role provides procurement support for a Clinical Trial Functional Service Provider (FSP). It involves strategic analysis of suppliers, supply markets, and supply chains to develop, execute, and manage clinical sourcing strategies. Key data includes internal budgets, supplier budgets, and invoicing information. The Sourcing Manager works closely with clinical research, procurement, and finance stakeholders to achieve cross-functional business objectives and supports contract execution and ongoing contract management. This position reports to the Associate Director to support high-quality sourcing initiatives and procurement category management.

Responsibilities

Create and execute RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, supported by structured information analysis and Ariba systems
Conduct negotiations with suppliers based on detailed analysis of internal specifications, supplier costs, and internal benchmarks
Prepare, finalize, and implement appropriate forms of contract and commitment with suppliers, involving legal counsel and senior management as needed
Provide guidance around budgetary and contractual impacts of decisions/actions as part of a cross-functional team
Escalate issues and concerns to procurement management and other functional areas such as legal, privacy, and compliance
Work closely with scientific and operational stakeholders to develop successful, long-term, strategic relationships
Monitor, report, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance as part of a cross-functional team
Evaluate suppliers and supply markets using facts, data, reports, and technology changes to provide deep insight to Sourcing Management teams
Actively participate in category teams to influence the development and optimization of supplier and sourcing strategies

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years professional experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain management, finance, or vendor management
Strong understanding of procurement processes, systems, and methodologies
Superior analytical skills for evaluating complex clinical trial budgets, comparing supplier bids, and internal benchmarking data
Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders and suppliers in a challenging clinical trial environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), including formal presentation ability
Adaptability in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments
Ability to lead work within diverse cross-functional teams to achieve client, department, and company goals
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to work independently with minimal guidance

Preferred Experience and Skills

Knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, clinical research process, and clinical trial operations
Extensive experience managing sponsor/supplier interactions across business development, project management, contract management, and relationship management
Proficiency working in Excel and Ariba

Pay

The salary range for this role is $96,200.00 – $151,400.00. Position within the range will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business needs. The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
