About the role
Salesforce MuleSoft is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) to join their platform engineering team. The role involves designing, building, and shipping integration platform capabilities and APIs that customers love, adopt, and rely on at massive scale. Responsibilities span the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, and production operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow
- Build scalable, performant backend services and APIs within a microservices-based, multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
- Contribute to MuleSoft platform features including integration flows, API lifecycle management, and runtime operations
- Participate in architecture reviews and collaborate with senior engineers and architects to align designs with platform standards
- Critically evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance through rigorous code reviews
- Develop test strategies and write unit, integration, and functional tests to drive code quality and automation coverage
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in real-time
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features
- Mentor junior engineers (MTS/AMTS) and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with distributed systems and large-scale SaaS platforms
- Strong programming skills in one or more: Java, Python, Scala, Go, Node.js (Java strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform — Anypoint Studio, DataWeave, API Manager, Runtime Manager, MQ (experience or strong interest)
- Strong fundamentals in REST/SOAP/GraphQL API design and microservices architecture
- Experience with public cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Solid SQL and NoSQL database skills (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices
- Understanding of security fundamentals: OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and triage skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- B.Tech / B.E. / M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred / Nice to have
- MuleSoft certifications (Certified Developer L1/L2) or strong interest in getting certified
- Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, MuleSoft MQ)
- Familiarity with Agentforce / AI-integrated workflows
- Experience with Kubernetes/Docker and cloud-native infrastructure
- Prior experience on integration platforms or API gateway technologies
