At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. We’re looking for talent who want to leave the planet better than they found it—people who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD powers the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Every role at AMD contributes to technology that moves the world forward.
About the role
Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) Software Development Engineer. This role serves as a senior technical expert responsible for architecting, designing, and developing highly complex operating systems–level software, compiler toolchains, distributed build systems, and enterprise-scale CI/CD and release engineering platforms that support advanced semiconductor design and manufacturing operations.
You will utilize knowledge of computer science theory, systems architecture, distributed computing, compiler construction, networking, and large-scale infrastructure engineering to solve novel, mission-critical technical challenges affecting AMD’s global engineering productivity and silicon development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end architecture of enterprise-grade build and release ecosystems supporting thousands of engineers across globally distributed ASIC and layout design environments.
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and performance-optimized CI/CD frameworks integrating operating systems internals, compiler infrastructure, distributed compute clusters, artifact management systems, and secure software supply chain controls.
- Lead development of sophisticated automation frameworks that orchestrate complex dependency graphs, parallelized execution, dynamic resource allocation, and resilient recovery mechanisms.
- Establish architectural standards and engineering best practices adopted across multiple departments.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of system bottlenecks and reliability risks and implement innovative optimization solutions.
- Resolve unprecedented technical issues impacting product quality, tape-out schedules, and time-to-market.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with ASIC, verification, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to align software architecture with silicon roadmaps.
- Exercise broad discretion and independent judgment in defining technical objectives and long-range strategies.
- Provide high-level technical guidance across organizational boundaries.
Requirements
