SMTS Software System Design Engineer

Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis.
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products.
- Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases.
- Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.
- Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance.
- Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision.
- Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.

Requirements
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
Skills
The following skills are required (minimum two (2) years of experience in each):
- System architecture
- Running, analyzing, and system benchmarks
- Programming in Python, C, or C++
- Unix/Linux environments
- CPU and GPU architecture
- GPU programming
- Machine-Learning
- Object-Oriented design
- Code optimization using GPU or software performance analysis
- GNU toolchain
- Open-source software development
