SMTS Software System Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products.
• Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases.
• Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.
• Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance.
• Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision.
• Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming.
• Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

• System architecture
• Running, analyzing, and system benchmarks
• Programming in Python, C, or C++
• Unix/Linux environments
• CPU and GPU architecture
• GPU programming
• Machine-Learning
• Object-Oriented design
• Code optimization using GPU or software performance analysis
• GNU toolchain
• Open-source software development
