Software Development Manager - Hybrid in Okemos, MI [SDM-2026-01]
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to lead Agate’s Project Development team through a critical stage of growth and transformation. This role is about more than managing code delivery - it’s about building a scalable, disciplined development organization that can balance speed, quality, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a large, diverse team of project developers (10-15 direct reports)
- Establish a Scrum-led structure to strengthen leadership capacity
- Partner closely with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Business Operations, and Sales to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, at strong margins, and with high customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Proven track record of leading high-performing teams
- Experience in building and scaling development organizations
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to drive process standardization and deliver measurable results
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in software development and project management
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
Skills
- Scrum Master certification preferred
- Experience with project management tools (Jira, Trello, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually
