About the role

The Project Manager will independently manage one or more complex, medium to large extramurally funded public health research projects supported by state, federal, and other research funding mechanisms involving tobacco, cannabis, substance use, behavioral health, implementation science, prevention, regulatory science, and community-engaged research.

Responsibilities

  • Coinciding multi-component research projects
  • Supporting intervention, curriculum, and training development activities
  • Oversight of project operations and timelines
  • Facilitating communication among stakeholders and collaborating organizations
  • Data management, analysis, dissemination, and reporting activities
  • Ensuring successful execution of project goals and deliverables
  • Contribute to implementation and evaluation efforts involving mixed-methods research, technology-supported interventions and training systems, stakeholder-engaged research activities, and policy- and practice-relevant public health initiatives
  • Provide guidance, training, and task oversight to research staff, students, or project personnel as needed

Advanced knowledge of experimental protocols, data gathering, protocol design and evaluation.

Excellent written (using correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation), verbal and interpersonal communication skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility in order to work effectively with co-workers, supervisor, investigators at other sites, study participants, local university administrators, and UCSD and regulatory personnel.

Demonstrated extensive experience in research protocol start up procedures.

Advanced computer skills including knowledge of PC software applications such as Word and Excel to produce manuscripts, reports, correspondence, graphs, and spreadsheets to generate, track, and analyze required data.

Demonstrated ability to navigate and utilize electronic mail systems and the internet to conduct searches, etc.

Demonstrated experience in prioritizing workload independently and giving direction to other team members.

Demonstrated experience in providing work direction and maintaining an efficient project team.

Strong demonstrated experience in planning meetings and decision making.

Strong demonstrated experience in project development and coordination, strategic planning, grant writing and development.

Ability to contribute important original ideas pertaining to the planning, development, modification, and execution of new research studies and ancillary studies that build on existing work.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (PhD) in public health, psychology, education, or related field with extensive theoretical knowledge of behavior change as it relates social norms.
  • Advanced practical knowledge and experience in the development of programmatic and/or clinical intervention related to tobacco and cannabis control.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tobacco control.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wireless technology applications as persuasive devices in behavior change.

$78,229 - $125,903 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Schedule

Days, 8-Hour Shifts, Monday-Friday
