SOF Exercise Designer IV - SOCNORTH

About the role

The SOF Exercise Designer IV supports the U.S. Special Operations Command North (SOCNORTH) at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. This role provides exercise planning and scenario development for various types of exercises.

Responsibilities

• Conduct front-end analysis by reviewing current operational directives, standing contingency plans, and conceptual approaches.
• Create scenarios to stress decision-making, capabilities, joint warfighting functions, and address operational and tactical issues in the African environment.
• Contribute to the development of the Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) for operations based or complex discussion-based exercises.
• Attend all Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events.

Requirements

• Current, active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Minimum of 6 years of recent experience serving in a command, senior enlisted advisor, or primary staff billet in a SOF (USSOCOM/TSOC), Service, Joint Staff, OSD, or 3-4 Star level Service/GCC HQs.
• Graduate of Service or Joint ILE or Enlisted equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in exercise and scenario design and management.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience conducting joint and coalition operations and training.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with Service, SOF, and Joint doctrine, planning, operations, training, and exercises.
• Understanding of Counter terrorism (CT) and Counter-Insurgency (COIN) Operations and targeting processes.
• Outstanding communication skills, influencing abilities, and client focus.
• Professional proficiency in English is required.
• Valid driver’s license (proof of which will be required after hire) and ability to qualify for and maintain company liability insurance through a clean driving record.
• Ability to access federal facilities in compliance with Real ID.

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Prior SOF (O4-O6/E7-E9/CW3-CW5); Prior experience assigned or supporting SOCNORTH; 18 years of special operations experience; Completion of Service or Joint Senior Professional Military Education or Enlisted equivalent preferred; 4 years of experience developing operational products to support GCC and TSOC SOF/CT exercises; 4 years of experience researching and integrating current operations to develop complex scenarios, studies, and analysis related to SOF core activities for all geographic areas; 4 years of experience to communicate exercise design details with operational level exercise planners, staffs, and commanders; interagency partners, and partner nation exercise planners.
