The Mesa Corps Social Service Coordinator position requires a BS degree in social work or related field, with MSW preferred, and at least 2 years of experience substituting for education.

About the role

The role involves overseeing various Salvation Army Family Service Programs, including Food Bank Program, Utility Assistance Program, Rental Assistance Program, Seasonal Holiday Relief Program, and Pathway to Hope Program. Key responsibilities include determining eligibility, maintaining records, monitoring costs, overseeing staff, securing volunteers, managing inventory, distributing funds and goods, promoting events, and communicating supply needs to the supervisor.

  • Collaboration with Territorial POH Project Manager
  • Attendance at community meetings, public relations events, and seminars
  • Research and proposal of alternative service delivery methods
  • Enhancement and expansion of social service programs

Qualifications

  • BS degree in social work or related field, MSW preferred
  • 2 years of experience substituting for education
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Non-judgmental demeanor and professional approach
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and clean MVR
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in office equipment
  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Physical requirements: regular walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating a desktop or laptop computer
