SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANT

About the role
Social Services Assistants play an important role in supporting children and families involved with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This position provides direct support to families through transportation assistance, supervision of family time, and engagement with children and caregivers to help support safety, stability, and well-being.
Frequent in-state travel is required. This job requires mornings, evenings, and weekends because flexibility to meet the needs of the family is a must. Social Services Assistants must be able to lift 50 pounds, safely supervise and transport children of various ages, and support families through positive communication, professionalism, and dependable service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in client intake and service referrals.
- Provide basic counseling and resource navigation.
- Maintain accurate records and case documentation.
- Support community outreach and public education initiatives.
- Coordinate scheduling and follow-ups for client services.
Requirements
- Minimum of six months of work experience in human services programs or public service.
- Required to pass a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with community partners, agency staff, and families.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to engage with all ages of children and adult clients on parenting and basic life skills.

Pay
Anticipated starting salary: $35,610.02. Salary range: $35,610 – $52,703.
