About the role
Social Services Assistants play an important role in supporting children and families involved with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This position provides direct support to families through transportation assistance, supervision of family time, and engagement with children and caregivers to help support safety, stability, and well-being.
Frequent in-state travel is required. The role demands flexibility to meet the needs of families, including availability during mornings, evenings, and weekends. Social Services Assistants must be able to lift 50 pounds, safely supervise and transport children of various ages, and support families through positive communication, professionalism, and dependable service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in client intake and service referrals.
- Provide basic counseling and resource navigation.
- Maintain accurate records and case documentation.
- Support community outreach and public education initiatives.
- Coordinate scheduling and follow-ups for client services.
- Supervise family time and engage with children and caregivers.
- Provide transportation assistance to families.
Requirements
- Minimum of six months of work experience in human services programs or public service.
- Must pass a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and safely supervise and transport children of various ages.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Frequent in-state travel required.

- Ability to work with all ages of children and adult clients, including engagement on parenting and basic life skills.

Pay
