Social Ministries Manager
About the role
The Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center is hiring a Social Ministries Manager. This position offers an excellent benefit package, including generous paid time off, employer-funded pension plan, comprehensive health care coverage, and eligibility for supplemental insurance plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer all social ministries programs, providing a continuum of care for adults, children, and families within the community.
- Oversee and direct social service programs/ministries, including new program development, case management, staff/volunteer and program supervision, collaboration with other community social service providers, and monitoring of program outcomes, procedures, and budget.
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of social ministries programs at Corps.
- Maintain inventory for feeding program and emergency food pantry, supporting Corps officers in grant and in-kind donation development.
- Network with and cultivate collaborative relationships with key personnel at other social service agencies and community-based organizations in the corps area.
- Attend community meetings as requested by Corps Officers.
- Identify and interact with families and individuals to assess their requirements, find internal and external social services programs that would assist them, assess their most urgent needs, appraise the situation, and listen to the clients' concerns.
- Develop a detailed plan of action to address identified root causes and needs of eligible clients, set goals and outcomes for said clients, and find necessary resources to meet the goals.
- Establish and strengthen solid community collaborations with outside agencies, and serve as a client advocate, enhancing a collaborative relationship to maximize the family's ability to make informed decisions.
- Consult with other external agencies to provide support services and resources.
- Keep comprehensive records of clients' progress throughout the process, including every call, referral, and home visit to track a family's success.
- Input accurate and complete data for all contacts with clients into the social ministries database and required data tracking into Service Point database.
- Participate in required social service, counseling, and other appropriate TSA trainings.
- Stay in touch with clients to ensure the services were beneficial and that their needs are still met after pointing clients in the right direction for services.
- Maintain confidentiality, respect privacy, and preserve the clients' routine and independence as much as possible.
- Ensure that all social ministries programs are well maintained and in compliance with The Salvation Army and regulatory agency standards.
- Submit monthly statistical and funding reports.
- Collaborate with Corps Officer(s) in seeking/maintaining opportunities for funding for existing programs and all new programmatic efforts.
- Represent The Salvation Army and participate in community agency meetings.
- Collaborate with the Divisional Social Ministries Director for guidance, supportive service, and technical assistance.
- Supervise staff and volunteers, remain up to date with all Keep SAfe training, and manage training for all staff/volunteers who work with the at-risk populations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work required.
- Master’s degree in social work (MSW), preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in social work or the social services field.
- Direct Care in a Human Service setting as well as supervisory/management experience.
- Knowledge of Social Service field/Community Resources.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability related to the principles and delivery of strengths-based case management.
- Results-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization.
- Prominent expertise in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and data management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and use of official vehicle may be required.
- Able to work extended hours if needed and during the Holiday season or times of disaster.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Bi-lingual, preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work required.
- Master’s degree in social work (MSW), preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in social work or the social services field.
