Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day management, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring of Carolina Hurricanes social media accounts.
- Ideate, create, and post across all Hurricanes organization social media platforms.
- Capture photo and video content during games, practices, community events, and team activities.
- Write engaging, timely, and on-brand social copy.
- Respond to fans across multiple social platforms.
- Create content that increases engagement and supports organizational initiatives.
- Support execution of the social media content calendar.
- Work with various members of the creative team and other internal departments to develop content for social media platforms.
- Aid in social analytics reporting and performance tracking.
- Ability to work both independently and desire to work collaboratively within larger meetings, discussions, and brainstorm sessions.
- Stay current on social media trends, emerging platforms, and digital best practices.
- Support ticketing, partnerships, retail and community initiatives through social media execution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience working in social media in professional or collegiate sports.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
- Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Experience creating mobile-first photo and video content – especially vertical video.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for hockey and understanding of NHL culture preferred.
- Consistently reflect strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and a reliable team player who can prioritize building interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including some nights, weekends and holidays, and able and willing to travel to off-site events, etc. as needed.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
