Social Media Manager
About the role
The Social Media Manager will lead development and tactical initiatives, serving as social media counsel to account staff and external clients in collaboration with the social team lead. This role involves managing workloads across multiple projects, conducting social listening and influencer research, deriving insights from data, and presenting findings to internal teams and clients. The ideal candidate will display a deep understanding of the broader digital ecosystem and collaborate with other subject matter experts to educate peers and clients on social media best practices, trends, and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as social media counsel to account staff and clients in collaboration with the social team lead.
- Manage workload across multiple projects for self and junior staff, taking the lead on complex initiatives.
- Conduct social listening and influencer research, derive insights from data, and present findings to internal teams and clients.
- Display a deep understanding of the broader digital ecosystem and cross-collaborate with other subject matter experts.
- Educate peers and clients on social media best practices, trends, and technologies.
- Act as the primary subject matter expert and project owner for social media, helping clients achieve marketing objectives within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education plus professional experience) required.
- Approximately 4-7 years of related agency or business experience.
- High familiarity with and personal use of social media, third-party management tools, and social listening platforms.
- Ability to locate and manage influencers, derive insights, and take actionable next steps from social listening data and platform performance.
- Understand the role paid social plays in an owned social strategy.
- Strong multi-tasking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a team environment with occasional delegation to junior staff.
- Strong client relationship skills and a knack for maximizing organic growth opportunities within current workload.
- Excellent communication skills to write about, explain, and present social media tactics and concepts in a highly regulated environment.
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively to successful completion, with a strong understanding of social media performance analytics.
- Pharmaceutical/healthcare experience and experience with coordinating influencer programs are a plus.
- Periodic travel required.

Pay
If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position within the U.S. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). This role is eligible for hire in select U.S. locations based on business and operational considerations.
