Responsibilities
- Lead the overall social media strategy across all Hurricanes-owned social media platforms.
- Own and manage the organization's social media content calendar.
- Identify opportunities for 1:1 communication with fans via social platforms to build brand affinity and drive connection, community, and growth.
- Write compelling, engaging, timely, and on-brand copy for social media posts across platforms with the goal of further solidifying unique brand voice.
- Maintain strong relationships with fans through community management of social platforms.
- Drive and amplify the Hurricanes' brand voice across platforms.
- Lead real-time game coverage and major organizational announcements.
- Identify new platform features, industry trends and emerging content opportunities.
- Analyze performance metrics and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to support revenue-generating initiatives, including ticket sales, partnerships, retail and special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- 2–4 years of professional social media experience with a professional or collegiate sports team or league.
- Demonstrated success managing large social media accounts and executing social campaigns.
- Strong understanding of platform strategy, brand voice, and exceptional copywriting and storytelling ability.
- Understanding of hockey, the NHL, hockey culture and language, vocabulary and jargon used in the sport of hockey.
- Creative writer, content strategist, and problem-solver who can multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven knowledge of Internet culture and communication.
- Strong understanding of analytics platforms and using data to inform strategy.
- Strong understanding of social media best practices, social platforms, and different ways to utilize those platforms to engage fans and build a community.
- Strong attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Strong time management and planning skills.
- Experience capturing photo/video content using a phone or camera.
- Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and a reliable team player who can prioritize building interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including some nights, weekends and holidays, and able and willing to travel to off-site events, etc. as needed.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
