Our portfolio includes leading entertainment and news brands such as NBC, NBC News, NBC Sports, Telemundo, NBC Local Stations, Bravo, and Peacock, our premium ad-supported streaming service. We produce and distribute premier filmed entertainment through Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, Focus Features, and Universal Studio Group’s global television studios. We also operate industry-leading theme parks and experiences worldwide, including Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. NBCUniversal is a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation.
Our impact is rooted in improving the communities where our employees, customers, and audiences live and work. We champion an inclusive culture, strive to attract and develop a talented workforce, and ensure our content reflects the world we live in.
About the role
We are looking for a strategic, creative, and highly collaborative Social Media Editor to lead the brand’s organic social presence and shape how its shopping journalism reaches audiences beyond traditional articles. This editor will own social programming and audience growth across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, Bluesky, and emerging channels. They will develop platform-specific strategies, manage the social editorial calendar, translate Selected’s journalism into compelling social storytelling, and use performance insights to refine the brand’s approach.
The ideal candidate is both an editor and an audience strategist. They understand that a successful story should not look or sound identical on every platform. They know how to preserve editorial authority while making content feel conversational, visual, personality-driven, and native to the way audiences use social media. This person will also help build recognizable voices and faces across Selected by working with reporters, editors, and creators to develop recurring franchises, coach talent, and identify on-camera opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Selected’s organic social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, Bluesky, and emerging platforms.
- Own the day-to-day social editorial calendar, including programming, prioritization, scheduling, and publishing.
- Set a clear editorial voice and platform-specific tone for Selected’s social channels.
- Translate articles, testing, expert reporting, product recommendations, and breaking commerce coverage into engaging social-first content.
- Develop platform-native content packages rather than simply republishing article headlines and links.
- Create recurring social franchises that build familiarity, loyalty, and audience habit.
- Collaborate with editorial leadership, video, visuals, audience development, newsletters, and production teams to plan multiplatform coverage.
- Monitor platform trends, creator behavior, cultural conversations, and changes in audience habits.
- Use social listening to identify audience questions, product interests, pain points, and emerging areas of coverage.
- Translate performance data into clear editorial recommendations and programming changes.
- Collaborate with commercial, partnerships, and consumer teams on social components of campaigns while protecting editorial standards.
- Support social execution for newsletters, events, television appearances, streaming segments, and other Selected initiatives.
- Occasionally appear on camera in social videos, explainers, discussions, product coverage, or other formats.
- Take on additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional social media, audience development, or digital editorial experience for a major publisher, news organization, or consumer brand.
- Proven experience managing and growing sizable social accounts across multiple platforms.
- Strong expertise in Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with a clear understanding of how audience behavior differs by platform.
- A portfolio demonstrating successful social programming, audience growth, editorial judgment, and platform-native storytelling.
- Strong editorial judgment and an understanding of journalistic standards, accuracy, and sourcing.
- Experience developing and managing a high-volume social content calendar.
- Strong understanding of short-form video, visual storytelling, and creator-led content.
- A proactive, highly organized work style and the ability to manage competing priorities under deadline.
- Strong attention to detail and experience working within publishing, scheduling, and analytics tools.
- Comfort appearing on camera occasionally and helping others develop their on-camera presence.
- A distinct point of view about what makes social content useful, entertaining, credible, and worth sharing.
- Unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
