Position Overview

MSTG (Music, Science, Technology Group) is seeking Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitators to launch a new SEL component within its afterschool enrichment program. This role is ideal for college students, emerging educators, and those interested in education, youth development, psychology, social work, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate SEL lessons using provided curriculum and materials.
  • Build warm, respectful relationships with students and create spaces where they feel seen, heard, and included.
  • Support students individually and in small groups with mindfulness practice, emotional awareness, expressive arts, communication, conflict navigation, and relationship skills.
  • Approach students with cultural responsiveness and humility, remaining sensitive and attuned to diverse identities, lived experiences, family backgrounds, communities, and conditions.
  • Aid in classroom community-building and model restorative approaches to communication and conflict.
  • Collaborate with MSTG teaching staff to support student well-being and a positive classroom environment.
  • Participate in regular training, professional development, coaching, and reflective practice with the SEL Director.
  • Complete a brief daily facilitator log documenting lessons, student engagement, notable observations, and areas for follow-up.

Training & Professional Development

  • Ongoing training and support in Social-Emotional learning and child development.
  • Culturally responsive and relationship-centered approaches to working with young people.
  • Restorative practices and conflict navigation.
  • Group facilitation techniques.
  • Weekly curriculum preparation and lesson modeling.
  • Supporting students through emotional and interpersonal challenges.
  • Reflective practice, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Who We're Looking For

  • College students and emerging professionals studying or interested in education, child development, psychology, social work, counseling, youth development, or related fields.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people—schools, afterschool programs, camps, tutoring, mentoring, childcare, or similar settings is preferred.
  • Warmth, reliability, emotional maturity, strong communication skills, and genuine interest in supporting young people.
  • A willingness to remain curious about experiences different from their own, recognizing that students' identities, families, communities, and life circumstances all shape how they experience learning, relationships, and emotional well-being.

How to Apply

Please email your resume and a brief cover letter sharing your interest in the position and any relevant experience working with children or young people to ------------.
