Site Superintendent
About the role
The Site Superintendent is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of field construction activities within an assigned area of responsibility. This position provides leadership and direction to field supervision, craft personnel, subcontractors, and construction support staff to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, schedule, and budget requirements. The Site Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader for daily construction operations, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, managing project resources, and maintaining effective communication with clients and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct all field construction activities within the assigned area of responsibility, including single-area, multi-area, or multidisciplinary projects.
- Manage day-to-day job-site operations, overseeing subcontractors, suppliers, craft personnel, clients, and other project stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and administrative direction to General Foremen, Foremen, Construction Engineers, Coordinators, Administrators, and other field personnel.
- Organize, interpret, and coordinate work assignments while ensuring the field organization is staffed with qualified personnel and resources are effectively utilized.
- Cover multidisciplinary craft activities and monitor General Foreman-to-Foreman and Foreman-to-Worker ratios to maintain productivity and workforce efficiency.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute construction schedules, manpower plans, material procurement, equipment requirements, and temporary construction facilities to support project execution.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements, safety standards, and applicable codes while meeting project schedule and budget objectives.
- Maintain project performance, establish and achieve cost and schedule targets, and implement corrective actions to maintain project milestones.
- Promote effective use of project automation and construction management tools by field personnel to improve productivity and reporting.
- Serve as the primary on-site representative to clients or coordinate daily activities with client representatives, maintaining strong communication and resolving field issues to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience supervising craft and subcontractors during the performance of work related to industrial construction and services associated with the Davis-Bacon Act labor requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended hours as required to support project activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, or other Federal industrial construction projects.
- Working knowledge of Savannah River Site processes and procedures.
