Responsibilities

• Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
• Assist in Non-Abstract Large System Design (NALSD): Support the design and implementation of scalable, resilient system architectures, with a focus on enhancing payment processing systems and customer-facing applications
• Collaborate in failure mode analyses to identify system vulnerabilities within our payment and processing systems, contributing to the development of mitigation strategies
• Aid in conducting chaos engineering experiments under senior engineers' supervision to proactively uncover and address potential system frailties
• Implement and refine our observability framework using OpenTelemetry, ensuring deep visibility into the health and performance of our systems
• Acquire knowledge on managing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, aiding in the quantitative assessment of system reliability
• Participate in the development and refinement of runbooks, learning to automate incident response and operational procedures to improve team efficiency
• Contribute to code reviews and automated testing
• Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation
• Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
• Automate deployments in test or production environments
• Support the scaling of applications based on demand projections
• Gain solid experience in Gen AI capabilities like context engineering, RAG, vector databases, Langgraph, context caching etc.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience
• Proficiency or strong interest in Kotlin and Java programming languages
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields
• Strong foundation in Data Structures and algorithms
• Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing
• Thorough understanding of XML, JSON, web services technologies, and data structure fundamentals, with experience in multi-threaded programming
• 4+ years’ experience with Java/J2EE, Python, Kotlin, Spring Boot, SQL, DB2, OOP concepts and multi-threading
• Hands-on expertise with application design, software development and automated testing
• 3+ years’ experience with RESTful API development and strong data structures
• Experience with continuous integration/deployment (Jenkins, Maven, XLR, GIT)
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as DB2, Redis, Postgres, Couchbase etc.
• Ability to effectively communicate to internal and external business partners on architecture and solution design
• Proven experience building scalable web and mobile application
• Experience in design and developing mission critical highly available enterprise applications and Java applications performance tuning
• Monitors system performance and availability and improves software quality through root cause analysis
