This role provides overall day-to-day on-site administrative and technical management of all field personnel, subcontractors, and construction activities for large, highly technical industrial facilities such as manufacturing plants, data centers, process facilities, and other industrial infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise on-site discipline superintendents, scheduling, engineering, cost control, material control, commercial management, and administrative staff.
- Oversee all construction activity on the assigned project site, including safety, quality, project controls, materials, subcontractors, contract execution, client interfaces, engineering interfaces, and start-up/commissioning interfaces.
- Ensure overall project safety and compliance with applicable Safety and Health Plans; review and audit site-specific safety documentation for Pre-Task Analysis (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs).
- Supervise and direct construction to ensure the project is sequenced and constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Enforce efficient use of materials and equipment, and ensure contractual performance of subcontractors and personnel.
- Enforce compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and client requirements; document violations and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide accurate performance feedback for all project team members.
- Develop and foster effective client and subcontractor relationships; interface with client representatives, municipal authorities, and other contractors.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Manager and Discipline Engineers to plan and sequence engineering deliverables and resolve field engineering items.
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop and implement Project Execution Plans, project procedures, working documents, site procedures, and project standards.
- Authorize purchase requisitions for field procurements under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Review and approve subcontractor progress payments and supplier invoices under supervision from the Project Manager.
- Provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods and equipment installation.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports; review subordinate and subcontractor field reports.
- Assess future work activities and identify concerns using 3-week look-ahead reports and the overall project schedule.
- Oversee and direct construction progress tracking and forecasting, including Field Progress Measurement Systems, Critical Path Scheduling, and commodity tracking systems.
- Oversee and direct the final construction documentation turnover process to clients, including construction turnover to clients or internal startup and commissioning teams.
- Provide site oversight and coordination of startup and commissioning teams.
- Supervise and enforce compliance with the project Quality Management System.
- Oversee craft supervision and project staffing as required.
- Provide oversight of project site material and tool management.
- Manage daily field construction in accordance with company policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
- Read, interpret, and understand isometric drawings, structural drawings, P&IDs, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation drawings, specifications, and commercial documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 17 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on a similar project, or
- Associate Degree and 19 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on a similar project, or
- High School Diploma/GED and 21 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on a similar project.
Skills
- Strong understanding of all construction disciplines.
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills for field construction personnel.
- Ability to meet the company’s driving requirements.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
