Site Leader
About the role
The Site Leader plays a crucial role in exceeding expectations and providing a superb customer experience, critical to Amazon’s success built on customer obsession and innovation. This multi-faceted role requires balancing strategy and execution, overseeing all aspects of operations for a functional area within one of our Fulfillment Centers, including people management, process optimization, and meeting customer commitments.
You will lead a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers to achieve operational excellence through coaching, mentoring, and driving employee engagement while building leadership bench strength. As a senior leader, you will oversee upwards of 1,000+ salaried and hourly employees in a fast-paced, complex facility up to a million square feet. This role serves as the face of the organization to employees and the community.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the operational budget for your functional area, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for outbound or inbound operations.
- Provide strategic long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out), including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season preparation.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to optimize operations, improve productivity, and meet or exceed business objectives with building-wide and network-wide impact.
- Leverage Operations and Area Managers to solicit ideas, understand challenges, and implement process improvements.
- Network with other leaders across the network to share best practices, drive efficiencies, and reduce costs.
- Establish objectives and metrics for safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience.
- Set clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area Managers, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold leaders accountable.
- Mentor and develop leaders and staff, participating in recruiting to identify and evaluate internal/external candidates for promotion and hire.
- Collaborate with support staff (HR, Finance, Maintenance Engineering, Safety, IT, and other leaders) to secure resources for projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 10-12 hours.
- Work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperature variations.
- Able to access all areas of the building safely, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways without limitation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
- 7+ years of experience in Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Production/Procurement, Distribution, Logistics, or related operations environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.
- Prior leadership development training or participation.
- Track record of effectively leading an operation with at least 100 salaried and hourly staff.
- Demonstrated ability to develop others into higher levels of leadership.
Pay
Base salary range: $134,700.00 - $182,200.00 USD annually. Your compensation package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
