About the role

The Shuttle Driver 2 will safely load, unload, and deliver parts on a timely schedule as directed, to Shuttle System drop boxes and Stores along an assigned route while adhering to company safety regulations and state laws. Other duties may include assisting Parts Departments in sorting and other warehouse tasks.

This is a mid-level position requiring more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge and skills. The role involves performing a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks with indirect supervision and self-direction.

The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

  • Respond to company needs in a positive, caring manner while ensuring prompt, accurate, and efficient transport of all shuttle shipments
  • Secure material onto the truck and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for safe transport and vehicle capabilities, as measured by passing D.O.T. mobile and fixed-scale inspections
  • Meet all state requirements and Holt safety and health guidelines, as monitored by yearly management records
  • Complete D.O.T.-required driver’s daily log accurately and without misrepresentation; maintain no more than three moving violations within a twelve-month period
  • Complete driver’s daily inspection report and make recommendations for repair or maintenance
  • Maintain the clean appearance of the company-assigned vehicle
  • Travel to all HOLT CAT locations and work multiple days or weeks at those locations
  • Work with the Parts Systems Manager on various projects
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with Class A CDL, with the ability to maintain it
  • Qualified and certified for vehicle operation
  • More than 3 years of experience operating a truck-trailer combination
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission

Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial engines, transportation, and safe driving procedures
  • Understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT guidelines
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Understanding of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment and quality standards
  • Quality control analysis skills: conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Operation and control skills: controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills: determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to perform a job
  • Ability to adjust vehicle or machine controls quickly and repeatedly to exact positions
  • Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record and diligent attention to safety
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects
  • Ability to read and understand written information and ideas
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascend and descend with gradual or continuous progress using both hands and feet; climb up and down ladders
  • Ability to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely react to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions; visually inspect work

Work Environment

  • Requires working in a closed vehicle or equipment
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions, including extreme conditions such as heavy rain, wind, or excessive temperatures
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and/or high places

Travel

Up to 100% travel required.
