As a Shuttle Bus Driver, you will assist in this mission by providing secure transport services across our facilities. Responsibilities
- Conduct friendly, courteous, and helpful interactions with passengers.
- Provide wheelchair assistance to destination and ensure a positive handoff with the destination caregiver.
- Provide safe, efficient, and quality shuttle transportation service as measured by driving record, compliance with established DOT regulations, and Cleveland Clinic safety policies.
- Maintain vehicle presentation and cleanliness at all times in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Maintain situational awareness both inside and outside the shuttle at all times.
- Report any suspicious behavior to CCPD.
- Complete daily passenger vehicle safety inspections prior to placing the shuttle into operation and at the end of the shift. Record deficiencies and report prior to dispatching the vehicle.
- Maintain currency and effectiveness in operating wheelchair lift and associated equipment and safely secure patients and wheelchairs at the wheelchair station.
- Assist passengers and luggage on and off the shuttle.
- Record ridership data.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write sufficiently to fill out maintenance checklists.
- Commercial driving training for the safe handling of a shuttle bus with a capacity of up to 40 passengers.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes and passenger endorsement, with less than six points on record.
- Eligible for insurance for Foundation Vehicles according to CCF’s insurance carrier’s requirements.
- Five years of driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Experience transporting passengers, patients, or clients.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to travel throughout the Cleveland Clinic health system.
- Ability to travel to locations outside of the Cleveland Clinic health system.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds (lbs).
- Ability to move patients.
- Ability to assist patients, visitors, and caregivers in wheelchairs in getting into and out of vehicles.
- Ability to drive.
- Ability to inspect equipment.
- Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment, and use cleaning products.
- Ability to distinguish color.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Per Department of Transportation regulations, if you are a CDL driver, you cannot be color blind.
Schedule
A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and weekends every 7 weeks.
Pay
The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. The range is $16.47 to $23.61 per hour. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
