Short-Form Content Writer (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)

About the role

Switch and Click is looking for a short-form content writer/producer to own our TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts output. You'll own ideation and scripting, and understanding what works on the platforms. You’ll have an editor and a videographer help bring your ideas to life. We cover Linux, self-hosting, home labs, networking, displays, home theater, keyboards, and any other interesting tech for an audience of over a million people. We value control, freedom, and privacy and the ability for people to repair their own tech. The primary platform we’re looking to grow on is Instagram.

Location: Farmers Branch, TX (On-site)

Qualifications

• A portfolio of short-form work
• A strong interest in a variety of tech
• Strong writing skills, can turn an idea into a tight value-packed script
• Understand the short-form platforms and what performs vs what doesn’t
• Comfortable being on camera time-to-time in b-roll
• Able to produce a lot of content and see what sticks
• Able to proactively plan your schedule to make sure you have ideas, scripts, and more in the pipeline at any given point

Responsibilities

• Write/produce 2-3 short-form videos per day, published across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts
• Develop concepts that make technical subjects immediately interesting to a broad audience
• Build and maintain our idea bank
• Develop and test repeatable formats, tracking which ones perform and retiring them as they fade, while also testing new formats
• Lead filming sessions with our videographer, giving clear direction and keeping shoot days efficient
• Brief and review edits, making sure the pacing, captions, audio, and hooks are great
• Manage publishing across all three platforms, optimizing each post for its respective platform
• Serve as our internal expert on short-form culture across TikTok and Instagram, identifying emerging formats, sounds, and opportunities before they saturate

Pay

Base salary of $50,000–$70,000 depending on experience. Team members who consistently grow the channel become eligible for our revenue sharing program, an AdSense split, and/or a share of short-form sponsorship revenue.
