About the role

Responsible for end-to-end warehouse operations and inventory control activities, ensuring accurate inventory records, efficient material movement, regulatory compliance, and high service levels to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the warehouse team to ensure safe warehouse operations.
  • Understands how warehouse operations impact product quality and implements practices and processes to continually improve.
  • Plans and schedules the team to meet monthly shipping goals.
  • Coordinates with customer service and production manager to meet customer requirements at the lowest possible cost.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and physical inventories.
  • Investigates, documents, and resolves inventory discrepancies and root causes.
  • Manages the railcar fleet and optimizes it to ensure service at the lowest cost.
  • Tracks railcars and ensures demurrage costs are not incurred.
  • Oversees staging and storage of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Leads the warehouse supervisor to execute on truck scheduling, carrier pickups, order packaging supplies, and shipping/receiving documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Prepares inventory and operational reports for management.
  • Identifies and implements cost improvement initiatives in the warehouse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or High School Diploma or equivalent with prior experience and additional training/certifications.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing warehouse operations and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated experience working in ERP/WMS systems.
  • Ability to update/change/modify and pull reports from an ERP system.
  • Ability to download data and use MS Excel to analyze data, make recommendations, and execute improvement actions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management ability.

Skills

  • Experience achieving desired results in areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a shared space with constant noise, with or without a private office.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Adaptability to varying schedules and demands.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment is a shared space with constant noise, and schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands. Physical demands include lifting 55 lbs, climbing straight incline ladders, and using fingers and hands for writing and typing.
