SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing shipments of goods and materials. This role ensures accurate documentation, compliance with shipping regulations, proper inventory tracking, and efficient workflow between departments, vendors, and customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cooking and receiving all inbound and outbound shipments to meet delivery schedules.
  • Verify and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Prepare shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing slips, and labels.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipping and receiving transactions.
  • Organize and stage shipments for pickup or delivery.
  • Work with freight carriers and schedule transportation as needed.
  • Maintain and update inventory control systems and warehouse databases.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Resolve discrepancies or issues with shipments in collaboration with vendors and internal departments.
  • Support warehouse staff in loading/unloading, packaging, and material handling.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventory.
  • Participate in Process Improvement projects when necessary.
  • Able to work in a team environment, teach and coach others in the awareness of shipping and receiving techniques, software, and best practices.

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of freight/logistics terms and shipping regulations (domestic and international).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
