Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor inbound and outbound truck traffic.
- Manage communication through MDS, Basecamp, carrier emails, and online carrier portals.
- Partner with the Shipping Manager to maintain shipping schedules and develop shipment plans.
- Assist with planning efficient delivery routes.
- Help secure and schedule outside carriers for outbound loads.
- Prepare, organize, and review driver paperwork.
- Review shipping documents to ensure they are complete and accurate.
- Investigate and help resolve shipping concerns, including lost or damaged materials.
- Work closely with the Receiving Supervisor and receiving team to coordinate inbound shipments.
- Partner with the Loading Manager to track loading progress and maintain the loading schedule.
- Complete receiving paperwork, maintain documentation, and update applicable financial records.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to locate missing materials and ensure purchase orders are completed.
- Communicate with Project Management to coordinate delivery timing and confirm job sites are ready to receive materials.
- Track shipment-related concerns and escalate ongoing performance issues to management.
Requirements
- Previous experience in logistics, shipping, receiving, transportation, dispatch, or a related environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative approach to working with carriers, drivers, project managers, purchasing, loading, and receiving teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly when schedules or delivery needs change.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks, shipping systems, carrier portals, or similar business software is beneficial.
- Familiarity with trucking, freight coordination, or construction-material deliveries is a plus.
