About the role

We're looking for an individual to lead and assist shipping and receiving workers in shipping and receiving activities, acting as a backup Supervisor for the department as needed. This role will monitor incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments, and perform Shipping Clerk functions to properly pick, pack, ship, and receive all products and materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead shipping and receiving workers in shipping and receiving activities
• Act as backup Supervisor for the department as needed
• Monitor incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
• Perform Shipping Clerk functions to properly pick, pack, ship, and receive all products and materials
• Assist with creating SOP and other shipping-related documentation
• Perform inventory data-entry and cross-training into other job functions as needed
• Attend departmental, safety, and Company meetings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This role will spend approximately 50% of time on Shipping Lead Functions, including:

• Consulting with Shipping Supervisor to clarify department priorities, identify problems, and suggest changes for improvement
• Checking new orders via computer and scheduling pick-up dates with carriers
• Determining shipping priorities and distributing workload/orders for the Shipping Clerks accordingly
• Assigning special wrapping/skidding, gluing tasks appropriately
• Communicating with Shipping personnel as well as other department personnel with any concerns, questions, or issues
• Monitoring Epicor processing for proper shipping and invoicing
• Training all new and existing employees on departmental procedures, including Epicor updates
• Performing weekly Standard work audits
• Ensuring employees follow proper safety procedures in the completion of tasks, including fork lift driving
• Working with Supply Chain on special tasks
