SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  • Prioritize and facilitate the daily flow of products through the Shipping department.
  • Distribute and monitor assignments and projects within the Shipping team.
  • Support the launch, implementation, and sustainability of various initiatives.
  • Provide expertise and input on continuous improvement projects.
  • Train and develop new or existing staff members.
  • Determine the method of shipment based on shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Affix shipping labels or stencil shipping information on packed cartons.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, or preassemble containers as needed.
  • Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
  • Plan and monitor daily shipments to reduce documentation discrepancies.
  • Ensure on-time shipments, on-time documentation, and monitor shipments from origin to destination.
  • Verify Bill of Ladings, commercial invoices, and sales orders against actual shipments for completeness.
  • Record damages and address issues to resolve problems.
  • Operate forklift trucks or pallet jacks to move materials within the warehouse.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to company policies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Protect the confidentiality of the company’s information and products.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; equivalent years of relevant experience or demonstrated mechanical aptitude may be considered in lieu of a diploma or GED.
  • Associate's Degree or completion of a Trade/Technical School is preferred.

Skills

  • Forklift operation.
  • Experience with LTL and FTL shipping.
  • Cordination with freight forwarders.
  • Proficiency in tracking and tracing shipments.
  • Shipping via FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
  • Domestic and international shipping experience.
  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a shipping logistics or coordinator role.

Leadership Responsibility

  • Responsible for assigning and monitoring team tasks, training staff, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures team success through hands-on leadership and problem-solving.

Problem Solving

  • Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents and are consistent with organizational objectives.

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and writing.
