Position Overview
The Shipping Clerk manages and coordinates outgoing shipments across domestic and international channels. This role is responsible for handling a mix of parcel, LTL freight, and hazardous materials shipments, ensuring all orders are processed accurately, compliantly, and on time. This position plays a critical role in maintaining shipping accuracy, regulatory compliance, and overall customer satisfaction.
Who You’ll Work With
Work as part of a collaborative and talented shipping and receiving team, partnering with warehouse, customer service, and internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment. Report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, with day-to-day support and guidance from the Materials Manager to help you succeed in your role.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare, pack, and label products for shipment in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Verify order accuracy against purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documentation prior to release.
- Cook up daily shipments including parcel, LTL freight, and international orders.
- Generate and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and export paperwork (e.g., commercial invoices).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including DOT, IATA, and other hazardous materials shipping requirements.
- Classify hazardous materials and verify proper labeling, documentation, and packaging standards.
- Schedule carrier pickups and communicate effectively with UPS, FedEx, and freight carriers.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update ERP or inventory management systems.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for damage, accuracy, and completeness.
- Troubleshoot shipping issues, delays, and documentation discrepancies.
- Collaborate with warehouse, customer service, and internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
- Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, as needed.
- Maintain documentation and processes in support of internal procedures and audit readiness.
