About the role
The role at Mennel is to operate and maintain the flour mill under the direction of the Head Miller, supporting the company's food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service.
Primary Work Shift
Works shift as assigned and overtime as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE).
- Attend all required training sessions.
- Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
- Manage operations of the flour mill and cleaning house during assigned shift.
- Operate milling units at optimum performance and yields.
- Manage wheat and flour inventories to required specifications.
- Repair equipment, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain production reports and comply with all SOP’s.
- May be responsible to cover for the Head Miller and/or Mill Operator in their absence.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in flour milling, food productions, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job while wearing a respirator.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and organize tasks and follow through to ensure completion of assignments in an efficient and high-quality manner.
- Must exhibit a high aptitude of troubleshooting and the ability to problem solve.
- Requires initiative to recognize equipment design problems or other maintenance related issues in other areas or departments.
- Ability to understand materials flow through a particular process and/or a sequence of operations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft office software, internet and other computer software to complete essential duties and responsibilities.
- Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning ability: Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
