About the role
The Sheetmetal Foreman / Lead Mechanic performs installation and repair of commercial HVAC systems and related equipment in commercial or public buildings.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings and P&ID schematics.
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Provide hands-on leadership to field crews, ensuring jobs are completed on schedule from layout preparation through final installation and testing.
- Direct and supervise Lead Mechanics, Mechanics, Apprentices, and Journeymen for installing commercial HVAC systems and related equipment according to blueprints.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products associated with commercial HVAC equipment and related mechanical systems (Foreman).
- Communicate with and schedule subcontractors working on site (Foreman).
- Ensure job quality and customer satisfaction at every project stage (Foreman).
- Build strong relationships with crew, clients, customers, and vendors to cultivate a positive work environment (Foreman).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Five years of experience in the Sheet Metal field (Lead Mechanic) or eight years of experience (Foreman).
- Strong communication and documentation skills (Foreman).
- Possess essential hand tools expected for the trade.
- Dependable and a team player.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Pass a post-offer pre-employment drug screen and satisfactorily complete additional background checks (e.g., DMV, criminal history).

Pay
The wage range is $16 - $37 an hour.
Physical Demands
- Frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and standing throughout the day.
- Frequent climbing, reaching above shoulder height, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Occasional lifting of heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and all weather conditions at outside job sites.
- May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals requiring safety data sheet knowledge.
- Depending on the position, may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for two or more hours.
