Sheetmetal Foreman

About the role

Polk Mechanical is seeking a Sheetmetal Foreman to lead three or more workers in trades and labor, requiring deep skill and knowledge of the sheetmetal trade. The Foreman will perform both supervisory and hands-on work as part of the crew, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assign tasks to crew members based on instructions from supervisors and ensure work begins promptly.
• Work alongside crew members, demonstrating proper methods and setting the pace.
• Ensure availability of plans, blueprints, materials, and tools; obtain supplies as needed.
• Resolve problems by obtaining decisions from supervisors during work execution.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives, and communicate these to the crew.
• Monitor work progress and completed tasks to ensure compliance with instructions, deadlines, and quality standards.
• Lead the crew in following supervisor instructions and meeting project deadlines.
• Enforce safety and housekeeping rules on-site.
• Report work status, progress, and delays to superintendents and project managers.
• Address supervisor questions regarding overall work operations and challenges.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years’ verifiable experience in the sheetmetal trade.
• Thorough knowledge of sheetmetal blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Thorough knowledge of other major craft blueprints.
• Comprehensive understanding of all sheetmetal systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with employees and clients.
• Proven ability to supervise multiple employees.
• Strong project scheduling skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail.
