Sheetmetal Foreman

About the role

Polk Mechanical is seeking a Sheetmetal Foreman to lead three or more workers in trades and labor work. The ideal candidate will have sufficient skill in and knowledge of the trades performed by their team to effectively carry out foreman duties, perform regular non-supervisory work alongside the crew, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Pass instructions from supervisors to workers and assign immediate tasks to individual team members.
• Work alongside crew members, setting the pace and demonstrating proper work methods.
• Ensure plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and obtain stock from supply locations.
• Obtain decisions from supervisors on problems arising during work.
• Maintain current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives, and answer workers’ questions.
• Ensure the crew follows instructions, meets deadlines, and maintains productivity.
• Check work in progress and upon completion to verify adherence to supervisor instructions regarding sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
• Enforce safety and housekeeping rules.
• Report work status, progress, and delays to superintendents and project managers.
• Answer supervisors’ questions about overall work operations and problems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years’ verifiable experience in the sheetmetal trade.
• Thorough knowledge of sheetmetal blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Thorough knowledge of other major craft blueprints.
• Thorough knowledge of all sheetmetal systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with employees and clients.
• Ability to supervise multiple employees and schedule projects to meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail.
• OSHA-30 certification is required (training provided if not currently certified).
