About the role
Upchurch is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to lead field crews on commercial new construction projects. This hands-on role involves supervising sheet metal installation activities, maintaining safety and quality standards, coordinating daily work, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. The Foreman will collaborate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and other trades to successfully deliver projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside sheet metal crews on commercial construction projects.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity.
- Enforce Upchurch safety policies, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Inspect work for quality, code compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
- Collaborate with project leadership and other trades to resolve field issues and maintain workflow.
- Maintain daily logs, production reports, and timekeeping records.
- Mentor apprentices and support the development of crew members.
Requirements
- 7+ years of sheet metal experience in commercial construction.
- Previous Foreman or lead-level supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC ductwork installation, blueprints, and applicable codes.
- Proven ability to lead crews, coordinate work activities, and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
