Sessional Lecturer - ARC381H1F - Technology Studio IV

About the role

This studio continues to explore the role of technology in design and promotes innovation in design tool development, building systems, simulation and visualization. Emphasis will be on applying knowledge gained in earlier coursework in a project-based studio setting using computational techniques, physical model making, and 1:1 fabrication and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and delivery of course material
• Managing digital teaching materials
• Supervision of teaching assistants
• Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations
• Marking of student work, submission of grades
• Dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions
• Student contact hours

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in computation and design.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s), teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate level, demonstrated experience in computation, demonstrated design excellence.

Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate level. Demonstrated experience in computation is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1–2 page portfolio.

Skills

Knowledge of computational techniques, ability to manage digital teaching materials, supervisory skills, ability to prepare and deliver assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations, marking of student work, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, student contact hours.

Benefits

Salary ranges from $9,997.47 (Sessional Lecturer I) to $11,228.90 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term), inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay, where applicable. Rates may vary based on the collective agreement.
