Sessional Lecturer - ARC362Y1S: Architecture Studio IV
About the role
This studio will focus on the design of a public program or institution in an urban setting through an exploration of the relationship between building types, tectonics, and material assemblies in an urban context. Estimated enrollment: 20 students. Appointment period: January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027.
Schedule
Class meetings: Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Lead a design studio section under the direction of a course coordinator.
- Prepare and deliver course content in a design studio setting.
- Develop and administer assignments.
- Provide students with regular feedback on their work in the studio setting.
- Mark and grade student work and submit grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy.
- Maintain reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
- Supervise the day‑to‑day work of any Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in design.
Qualifications
Preferred: a professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate level. Demonstrated experience in architectural practice is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1‑2 page portfolio.
Pay
Salary (inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay where applicable):
- Sessional Lecturer I: $19,994.95
- Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $21,398.43
- Sessional Lecturer II: $21,398.43
- Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $21,907.92
- Sessional Lecturer III: $21,907.92
- Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $22,457.80
Note: Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from those stated herein, the rates in the collective agreement shall prevail.
